Local primary school student, Tríona Collins, age 12, from Our Lady of Mercy Primary School in Waterford City, has been selected as the winner of Waterford Airport’s recent postcard design competition.

Students from across the South East were asked to design a postcard with the theme of ‘summer holidays’ to help promote Aer Arann’s new flights from Waterford Airport.

The airline now flies directly from Waterford Airport to Amsterdam, Birmingham, Bordeaux, Faro, Galway, London, Lorient, Malaga and Manchester.

“Tríona’s design really stood out”, says Graham Doyle, Waterford Airport CEO. “We particularly liked the bright colours Tríona used in her design – we think it makes a great postcard to help promote Waterford Airport and our new destinations.”

“We had over 1,000 entries from around the South East region, so being selected as the overall winner is a great achievement for Tríona and her school”, Mr Doyle continued.

Tríona won €500 of arts supplies for her school, a trip to Waterford Airport for her class, and a week’s holiday to Bordeaux for her family.

Tríona’s postcard is now being distributed at Waterford Airport to promote their new flights, so keep your eyes open for her winning design next time you’re at the Airport.
